Cooperation is our challenge

Many public administrations throughout the world are currently developing actions involving free software, although there is still little cooperation between these governmental experiences.
This initiative seeks to share technical experiences in the sphere of the public policies of the administrations concerning free software.

We propose the following points:

  • Consolidation of the initiative of the “International Network of Public Administrations for Free Software”, strengthening the political and institutional relations between the different public administrations and/or other cooperation networks with similar or complementary objectives.
  • Stimulation of technical initiatives for multilateral and/or bilateral collaboration between projects to cover necessities indicated by the public administrations that make up the “Network”, with the objective of increasing the freedom, reducing the development costs and sharing the knowledge of experiences to consolidate the use of free software within governments.
  • Establishing bilateral cooperation relationships between the public administrations participating in the Network and the main projects and initiatives of the international free software community.
  • To seek recognition by and cooperation with international bodies such as the EU and the UN.
Elaboration of an "action plan" (or work plan) together with the administrations.

We must be inspired by the logic behind the main reason for the success of the free software community and we must stimulate cooperation between the different administrations.

Cooperation is our challenge.
